The Singing Actor

Master Teacher: Chuck Cooper

Sunday, October 4

2pm-6pm

This Master Class will focus on uncovering the magic of the song

through acting techniques. Chuck will begin working with the class

as a group and then work with each person individually on the

material that they bring.

Chuck has designed this four-hour Master Class to provide everyone

with ample time to work on their own techniques and to demonstrate

what Chuck has learned from this work on stage, TV, and film. Visit Chuck Cooper’s website to read more about his work on and off Broadway. Chuck worked with Music-Theatre Group workshops on Wendy Walters’ and Derek Bermel’s Golden Motors.

Students in this class should bring a song with strong lyrics -- an actable text -- and one with which they are very familiar (i.e. know the character, context, the entire musical or piece from which it comes).

To fully benefit from this Master Class, participants should know their song from memory and consider their song as something they are working on -- not simply a song to be performed for others.

An accompanist and light refreshments will be provided.

Class size: 16

We are limiting enrollment to maximize Chuck’s individualized work with participants.

Tuition:  $125 per student.

Location:  MTG @ OneArmRed (DUMBO)

Tuition waivers. There are a small number of $100 tuition waivers available for this class.
